ICC presents Fuddy Meers
ICC presents Fuddy Meers
This
last week at the ICC art Studio the play “Fuddy Meers” was being
performed. I decided to attend one of
the shows, because I had been in plays in high school. The play was rated R, I didn’t notice the
rating when I first went to watch it and the first time one of the actors
yelled out F*** I was quite surprised. I
had not heard anyone yell out curse words in a play before especially when
little kids were in the audience. The
cursing is not what bugs me, it’s the fact that parents would bring their small
children to a rated R show knowing that it would have vulgar language and some
scenes that they weren’t old enough to see or even understand. The students that were in the play are all
adults now and have their own decision on whether to curse or be around that,
but small children don’t really have that choice, they have to go with the parents. In my opinion it’s just not fair to the kids
that they get exposed to such language early on in life, I know I wouldn’t want
my kids (if I had any) to be listening to cursing and maybe start
themselves. The play was very good and I
enjoyed going and watching, I plan to attend another show sometime soon and
this time ill hopefully notice whether its rated R or not so I’m not so surprised
and hopefully some parents who have small kids with them will notice as well.
