"On Facebook, Biggest Threat to Your Private Data May be You"
Facebook is a powerful tool and resource in today's society. If someone wants to know something about another person all they have to do is add that person as a friend and then they are capable of finding all types of information about them, even if that other person doesn't want them to know. I have a Facebook account like most people these days and I know things about people that I didn't really care to know. People will post status updates all day long and everyone is able to read what they posted. Everything someone posts out on Facebook is there is clear writing that everyone can read, I don't need to know what you are having for breakfast or that you are getting ready to go to bed. If a person really thinks it is important for me to know what they have to say then they can either tell me in person or at the least call and tell me. People deserve privacy and that's what they should get. I definitely agree with the authors point of view in this article about how people are giving so much of their privacy away, sometimes without even knowing it. There is a new "terms of service" agreement that new Facebook users have to agree to before they sign up and it seems like there is a lot of controversy about it. The way the author (Jacquielynn Floyd) puts this is simply perfect "If we don't have enough sense not to "friend" somebody we haven't seen in 20 years and we didn't really know that well in the first place, what business do we have getting all huffy over Facebook's terms of service?" Facebook is a great social media site but come on people keep somethings to your self.
